La Marina Fiesta

Hi,
Does anyone know if there are any details of the fiesta yet?
I understand it is next weekend, but can see nothing published.
Thank you Patricia

La Marina

Patricia,
Yes the rundown has been announced.Apparently some posters have been displayed. From memory after having a brief look,Nilo (is playing Friday (he is a Cuban guitarist, I think A One Direction imitation group is on Saturday,Rolling Stones on Sunday, several other take off groups, a motor parade, kiddies Zumba and an adult Zumba.
Bit peeved as we were told as soon as they had the groups booked they would let people know. But when I last looked Jeffs blog doesn't mention it yet he controls fiestas. Council facebook page a little poster, even that is hard to read, and town hall web site much the same .Although most groups are British ,and well attended bt Ex Pats, most of poster appears in Spanish. with no British translation

PATRICIA,
I sincerely hope that there will not be a Fiesta this year! Last week we had a rock concert here on the urb that invaded the privacy of each and every resident.
If our politicians have learned anything then they will have cancelled this fiesta by now!

OOOOOH yes there is a fiesta this year...if you have facebook search fiestas de verano page by concejalia de urbanizaciones or I'm sure if you google that it will come up...so looking forward its such a great party atmosphere for all age groups.

Friendlyviking
Bad luck, The Fiesta will happen on the 2nd,3rdand 4th of August.if you cant beat them why not join them, or you could book a weekend in Benidorm for some peace and quiet

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-24 18:31:57 UTC

coming though to visit the old man on Friday 2nd aug I think that's when the fiesta starts, never been to the fiesta but heard its a great atmosphere

Commented kevhearts in La Marina 2013-07-24 20:11:49 UTC

What do you mean, you sincerely hope not! you are in Spain!! Fiestas are an age old tradition, its what they do! Never mind it will be quiet in the nursing home.

Commented Patricia in La Marina 2013-07-24 20:52:58 UTC

friendly Viking, come on. You surely must enjoy these celebrations. You're talking about 2 celebrations. I hope we never lose them. Rejoice, rejoice, we're alive if only for a while. xxxx

Commented mazza in La Marina 2013-07-24 22:51:29 UTC

Wendy, great. I can't understand why people live here in Spain if they can't accept the Spanish way of life. Fiestas are fabulous. Good for the panish they still have traditions. I think we've lost all of that in UK, unfotunately. Good for Spain xx

Commented mazza in La Marina 2013-07-24 23:18:05 UTC

FOLKS!
This that we have is in La Marina is in no way, shape or form a SPANISH Fiesta.

Anyone who has been to a SPANISH Fiesta will have noticed people in fiesta clothing on floats with Spanish music and their own brass bands. SPANISH Fiestas are for the specific celebration of an event.

What we have here in La Marina is a drunken orgy with live music blaring out until the early hours of the day disturbing the lives of the residents, particularly those who live in the immediate vicinity.

This is La Marina, a residential area not Benidorm or Blackpool Sea Front!

Misery! Get a life

Commented Patricia in La Marina 2013-07-25 06:51:39 UTC

O.K. Lets get it straight friendly Viking is a wind up merchant, They are more than likely to be the first in the queue to enjoy the fiesta, but her favourite thing is to attempt to wind up people. So best in future just to ignore her rants, it is her way of getting kicks ,as they say it takes all sorts

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-25 07:13:31 UTC

Alan,
You are becoming very presumsious are you not?
You have my absolute 100% guarantee that under no circumstances will I be anywhere near Consum Square during the weekend of this interruption of my retired life here in sunny Spain, left alone first in the queue.
One could be easily offended by being called a wind up merchant, please refrain from doing so in the future!

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-07-25 11:37:54 UTC

Now Friendly Viking, I think that last missive to Alan is a real wind up.You can't tell off Alan. I'm sure he's part of the fabric of La Marina. Does it matter if it's not a real Spanish fiesta, this isn't real Spain. This is Costa del Britsh pensioner and aren't we lucky to be here. Relax, it will soon be over, or move to Oasis like us. If we hear a bird chirping loudly that adds exitement to our day xx

Commented mazza in La Marina 2013-07-25 12:11:53 UTC

WOW Friendly? Vikin.
LOL

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-25 12:52:14 UTC

Just got a leaflet from tourist info re fiesta, I guess they named it in honour of (un)friendly viking
EN HONOR A LA VIRGEN DE LA PAZ, and he/she could be making a guest appearance on Sunday night at 2300, group called tributa a Heroes del silencio!!!!
Others appearing Friday Nilo and band, tribute to Bon Jovi, tribute to Pink Flloyd followed at 0130 by disco
Saturday evening tributes to the following Lady Gaga, One Direction Girls Aloud then disco
Sunday night tributes to Queen then friendly cikings band, fireworks, then stones tribute followed by disco.
Looks like there is something for evryone.

I am sometimes bemused by some of friendlyvikings comments, I have come to the conclusion that there is (2) mr friendlyviking and mrs friendlyviking. Mr friendlyviking you will still hear the music in the grey area when you are having a drink,or will you have earplugs in.

Commented rrich63 in La Marina 2013-07-25 15:29:34 UTC

Good that you are staying away Friendlyviking because that leaves the rest of us to enjoy. A leaflet with timing of events has been printed. I picked one up in Casa Mia restaurant (a few doors down from K9) enjoy all.

Was 'presumsious' not a Roman Centurion?

Commented Jim Gallagher in Quesada 2013-07-25 16:47:08 UTC

exellent JIm. Keep it up xx

Commented mazza in La Marina 2013-07-25 17:32:26 UTC

I always thought he was a Roman Senator, But perhaps I was being a tad presumptuous

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-25 17:55:35 UTC

The rock concert did not invade my privacy ,so speak for your self.

Commented bluesboytoby in La Marina 2013-07-25 21:05:39 UTC

Friendlyviking.....you need to change your name to grumpyviking. We live so close to the fiesta we don't really need to move to hear the music, but the atmosphere is great and everyone should experience it.....EVEN YOU!!
Comments like yours will put people off visiting La Marina and the fiesta, so give it a rest.
I'll see you down there and buy you a drink or two and put you in a good old mood......

Commented Vicky in La Marina 2013-07-25 21:15:17 UTC

Patricia,
I was expecting to see a full program of the fiesta events in all 3 of the English newspapers published today. Not in any one of them can I find even a mention of next weekends fiesta in La Marina urbanisation. I think all our councillor for the urbanisations and his personal assistants are a joke and something needs to be done to get them out!

Commented Don in La Marina 2013-07-26 08:26:31 UTC

Don
I did mention about lack of publicity for La Marina Urbs. Fiestas and other (good nights).I was surprised to get a reply telling us that San Fulgencio does have a press officer, unfortunately he is Spanish and only reports to the Spanish media, unless told to do otherwise.
Perhaps San Fulgencio doesn't realise that we exist until its SUMA collection time .

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-26 08:46:56 UTC

RICH 63
Clearly you are not factually correct here!
Yes there is a Mr and Mrs Friendlyviking who on rare occasions take a drink on the grey area but if you have seen either of us in the grey area in the evening then this is clearly a case of miss-identification, is it not?

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-07-26 10:26:16 UTC

You partake in a drink?. Do you walk out if there is entertainment on? Your comments are ruining the reputation of your area for would be property buyers and tourists.

Commented marko in Quesada 2013-07-26 13:17:38 UTC

Some people are not happy unless they are miserable!
If you was truly friendly, you would be happy that other folk enjoy the Fiesta, even if its not your thing!
I agree, as a visitor on holiday for the next few weeks, reading your critical one sided comments are most unwelcoming.

Commented Patricia in La Marina 2013-07-26 18:29:17 UTC

Patricia,
You will get used to Fiendly Viking,Not happy unless she is moaning.
But if you really want to wind her up, just think of something nice to say about Jeff (our Local Councillor) You can then see what she is like when she is really alight.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-07-27 09:31:38 UTC

Hi I am coming to la marina on 4th August with 3 children for 3 weeks. Are there any 'fiestas' or recommendations of what to do or where to go in evening? I see we are missing fiestas that weekend :-( is the campsite any good for entrrtainment? Thanks in advance!

Commented smartin107 in La Marina 2013-07-28 07:05:15 UTC

Thanks for your reply. Is it ok to use in the evenings even though we arent staying there?

Commented smartin107 in La Marina 2013-07-28 08:02:38 UTC

I believe that you can have a daily pass that will allow you to use all day. There is plenty of entertainment all over the Urabanisation and also several other pools that you can pay daily entry for although I believe they close approx 5.30pm

Commented Myra Davis in La Marina 2013-07-28 08:10:51 UTC
